Periodontal Care

While brushing and flossing regularly is essential to maintaining a healthy smile, sometimes that alone is not enough. Sometimes professional help is needed. Periodontal disease are infections of the gum and bone that hold teeth in place. There is often no pain, and the person is unaware of the problem until severe bone loss has occurred. Your body is unable to regenerate bone loss that occurs in the mouth. 

Fortunately non-surgical options as scaling and root planning can be used to treat most cases of periodontal disease. Periodontal scaling and root planning, also known as a deep cleaning, is used remove dental plaque, bacteria, and calculus around the crown, around and below the gum line. This procedure goes much deeper than a regular cleaning; your mouth may be numbed. The procedure may take two visits to complete.
